Applying for International and M1 Student Visa for School

Different universities from around the world follow different admission procedures. When it comes to taking admission in any university, your university will let you know what exactly they need from you to determine whether you’re eligible academically.

Apart from all these requirements, you will have to show the school that you’re also financially eligible to support yourself while studying. Again, you will have to produce your health insurance to cover any medical expenses, in case you need any medical assistance. Always try to keep a copy of every document that you should fill out and send off.

I 20 Application International Students

Once your university has assured that your application is complete and you’re academically eligible, they will provide you an I-20 form to apply for your student visa.

Generally, student visa applicants should apply at the U.S. Embassy or Consulate with Jurisdiction over their place of permanent residence. Normally, it will be your home country- the country you live in. Though you can apply visa at any U.S. consular office abroad, it may be difficult to qualify for the visa outside your permanent residence.

While applying for your M1 student visa for school, you should:

– Pay a non-refundable application fee. Even if you don’t qualify for visa, you won’t get back this application fee.
– All the student visa applicants should complete and submit DS-160 – the online application to receive a non-immigrant visa.
– All males aged 16-45 are eligible to apply for DS-157 form.
– A valid passport for traveling to the United States and with a validity date at least six months beyond the intended period of stay in the United States. If you’ve included one person in the passport, both persons seeking for a student visa should apply individually.
– Upload a digital photo that is:
— In color
— Properly sized that the head is between 1 inch and 1 3/8 inches (22 mm and 35mm) or 50% and 69% of the total height of the image from the bottom of chin to the top of the head
— Taken within the last 6 months reflecting your recent appearance
— Taken in front of an off-white or a plain white background
— Taken with a neutral facial expression and both eyes open
— Taken in clothing that you generally wear daily

Few Things to Remember While Applying I 20 Application International Students

When you apply for a student visa, you will need to make sure the consular officer that you have a strong connection to a residence in a foreign country – this will be your home country, where you don’t have any intention of leaving from. You’ll leave the United States only after the completion of your studies.

You need to take as much proof as possible to let the officer show that you’ve connected to your home country. Such proofs can include:

– Ownership of your permanent property
– Proof of your family based in your home country like your parents, brothers, and sisters
– Proof of a mortgage payment
– Letter from your future employer stating that you’ve a job offer while returning home
– Proof of assets like a car or anything else that can show that your main intention is to return your home country as soon as you complete your study
– Letter from a future employer stating that you have a job offer when returning home
– Assets, a car or anything else that can show that your intention is to return to your home country
